Why Nature's Pencil
About the Title
Nature’s Pencil refers to the first ever commercially published book to be illustrated with photographs called The Pencil of Nature by scientist and inventor Henry Fox Talbot. The phrase, “the pencil of nature” is a metaphor for photography’s ability to “draw with light.”
Published in 1844, the Pencil of Nature describes one of the earliest photographic processes and is regarded as the most influential book in the history of Photography. The Metropolitan Museum of Art writes that it was "a milestone in the art of the book greater than any since Gutenberg’s invention of moveable type.”
When Will I receive my Order ?
Orders are shipped via USPS and therefore have no tracking number. Please expect about one week for domestic orders and up to 3 weeks for international orders.
